Occupational segregation refers to the systematic concentration of different demographic groups in different occupations. It is connected to many inequalities in education and at workplaces. Mitigating segregation is, therefore, one way to promote gender equality and diversity. In addition to gender, it is often important to take other factors into account in an intersectional manner, as the worst consequences of segregation are often seen precisely at these intersections.
